Doors Sticking and Floors Sloping in DFW: Early Signs of Foundation Movement

A door that suddenly sticks, a window that will not close cleanly, or a floor that slopes can be more than a seasonal annoyance in Dallas-Fort Worth. These are common early signs that a foundation has moved, often because North Texas clay soil shifts with rain and drought.

What to watch for: Doors that rub or latch poorly, windows that stick, cracks near door and window corners, gaps in trim or baseboards, and a marble or ball that rolls on a floor. One sign alone does not prove foundation damage, but several signs together, or signs that get worse, are worth an inspection.

How Onyx checks it: Onyx Foundation offers a free foundation inspection. The team takes elevation readings across the home, looks for the pattern of movement, and gives a written report that explains the findings and the recommended work in plain language. Onyx only recommends work a home actually needs.

If repair is needed: Onyx may recommend steel, concrete, or hybrid piers, slab or pier-and-beam repair, or drainage and root barrier work, depending on the home. See the Foundation Repair Services page at https://www.onyxfoundationtx.com/foundation-repair-services. Work is backed by a lifetime warranty on materials and a 15-year warranty on labor, with payment of 50% to start and 50% on completion.

Book a free evaluation: Schedule at https://calendly.com/onyxfoundation/30min, call 214-876-0328, or email onyxfoundationstx@gmail.com. Onyx serves Arlington, Dallas, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Irving, Plano, and Frisco.
